“I don’t have in me all the dreams of the world.” This phrase was written by the poet Jose Fernandes and is common for almost all people. Throughout life, there are many imagined dreams, but few are those that come true. To change this reality, you must have financial planning. It is very good to dream something, but even better to do it. Making dreams come true must be the main objective of any personal or family financial planning process.
The first step is to use a tool that allows control of financial life. The house budget will be an important ally in the realization of dreams. Eliminating unnecessary expenses is another important step. Money saved from eliminating unnecessary expenses can be used to achieve something that was not possible before.
The most important thing is to dream
We must always be dreaming. We may have some dreams that we would like to realize soon. Short-term purchase dreams (up to one year to be used). Some dreams may take a little longer to come true (they are medium-term dreams – up to five years to be used). And we must also have goals for the future. They are long-term dreams. But dreams must be well defined. And they have to have a price, that is, we must know the cost of it.
For example, if we have the dream of having a fifteen-year-old party for our daughter, we must first define what it will take to do it. The expense of it depends on what will be offered to the guests. With the budget, you can find the best strategy to achieve the dream goal.
Suppose the party was budgeted at 2 million pesos. If planning begins five years before the party, you will have 60 months to gather the necessary resources. It needs, therefore, to save monthly on 33 thousand pesos. And keeping this savings in an account can even increase the amount due to the interest received by the bank.
And to help in the course of this task, the best alternative is to consider each part as an account and register in the budget. And every month, after receiving the salary, it must also be paid on account of “sleep.”
Many dreams do not come true. Why?
It’s because we try to carry them out within a period incompatible with our financial reality. It is up to each one to transform their dreams into something more solid than a sandcastle, because these are fragile and can be easily destroyed. Walt Disney, the creator of a world full of magic, said: “If we are able to dream, we can also make our dreams come true.”
